3 Fun Ways to Get Kids to Brush Their Teeth!

Children don't like many changes in their routine so it is best to make brushing a part of their daily routine when they are young.. How you convince them to brush their teeth will impact their dental health for the rest of their lives.

Make it a game

If kids don't want to brush, they're going to fight you to get it done, so instead of fighting your child to brush their teeth, make it a game! Tell them they need to brush the sugar bugs from their teeth or that their teeth need a bubble bath; this makes brushing fun.

Give them a prize

When they first start brushing, celebrate with a prize!; A prize for brushing shouldn't be food-based, though! Please reward them with something such as a favorite toy, or five extra minutes of tv time, anything that is safe and not based on snacks.

Let them pick their tools

Kids who get to pick out their toothbrushes and toothpaste are much more likely to want to use them. Letting them pick their tools encourages them to get the brushing done!

Getting your child to brush their teeth doesn't have to be a difficult task; as a Richmond Family Dentist, we take pride in fostering a positive outlook toward children and dental care. Ask us about other tools you can use to get your children to brush at your next appointment!
